The two drive shafts were independently marked as "LH" and "RH" - although the right hand one is easy to identify by the toothed gear which used by the sensor to measure speed. For each side, the protective cap was removed from the LSD and, as recommended by Chris Collins, a smear of oil was applied to the seal - to prevent any installation damage. The drive shaft spline then slid smoothly and easily into the LSD with the hub end of the shaft being allowed to rest on the protected chassis rail.
